Many people learn best when they associate an unknown subject or activity to something familiar to them, The Holmes Education Post continues to write books as a resource to improve public education. With a high demand for a rigorous curriculum aligned with a 21st century workforce, the critical question to be asked is: What are some career paths that can lead to successful employment? To answer this question, The Holmes Education Post introduces its newest book entitled, “Professional Career Paths.” It is now available to order through Authorhouse.com, Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble or call AuthorHouse Book Order Hotline at 1-888-280-7715.

Public school students in many states are given the opportunity to choose a potential job to pursue or path of study in one of the 16 national career clusters such as agriculture and business delineated by the U.S. Department of Education. This book provides an excerpt of interviews of 57 professionals in different occupations (farmer, lawyer, doctor, entrepreneur, etc.) to help students learn of jobs for successful employment.

The book is also designed to help students visualize how their background fits certain characteristics of professionals so they become inspired to pursue a defined career path. Each professional’s occupation in the chapters is linked to one of the 16 national career clusters supported by definitions of the National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium. Finally, the book provides a review of best practices various schools have used across the country to prepare students for college and careers.

Too often students express being bored in school and, subsequently, lose focus in completing a high school diploma. Annually, about 1.2 million students drop out of school which equates to 7,000 students dropping out each school day, or one child every 26 seconds. Nationally, we have to meet the standards for a rigorous curriculum aligned with a 21st century workforce. With the support of professionals in a variety of occupations, this book is written as a resource to help students, particularly, understand what it takes to create and sustain a successful career.
